On January 24, 2017, the MCLA and Councilman Jose Huizar celebrated the restoration and re-dedication of Eloy Torrez's massive "Pope of Broadway" mural (on 3rd Street between Broadway and Spring streets), depicting Anthony Quinn.  The restoration was completed by Torrez himself and Art Mortimer, working throughout the summar of 2016.  The project was made possible by a generous donation by the Greenland Group; the funding was secured by MCLA's former executive director Isabel Rojas-Williams. Speaking at the dedication were Councilman Jose Huizar, actor Edward James Olmos, Valentina Castellani-Quinn, Eloy Torrez, Danielle Brazell from the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, and Eric Bjorgum for MCLA.
